Student Involvement Fair :

After my last set of classes on September second, I met with a few girls that live across the hall and we went to the student involvement fair together. There we circled the tables around the common lawn a few times and spread out toward what interested each of us most. I headed towards the dance team table and could speak to a few of the girls on the team and meet the team’s captains. I also learned the information on how to audition and sign up for the team, which I will get to do on Sunday, September 11th. As for the other clubs I checked out, I talked with the people at the ocean club, and anthropology club, and although I do not know much about either the people who ran the clubs and what crowd they brought together are what captured my attention. That’s what I truly liked most about going to the fair was seeing everyone’s common interests and looking at the faces of people who knew they would find a club or sport where they can be themselves and fit in somewhere in an environment that can sometimes make you feel lonely or shut out.

1: Football game:

For parent’s weekend my parents came up and we tailgated and went to the football game where we won with very high numbers, I was able to enjoy outside-of-classroom activities with my parents and even got to introduce them to a couple of people I knew running into others at the game. My sister never fully lived at college so they were excited to go to a college football game, probably more excited than me!! Along with this one of my really close friends here is on the cheerleading team I got to watch their halftime performance and support her as well, I am actually thinking about joining the cheer team in the spring because I previously did cheer in high school, It was nice to be back at the football games but felt weird not actually being on the field and cheering for the team. Overall I really appreciated this experience and can’t wait to go to more of the games, I especially can’t wait for hockey to start as well, even my roommate is on the hockey team for girls club hockey.

2:Girls Hockey Scrimmage:

I went to the club hockey scrimmage for UNE girl’s hockey, I went to support my roommate as well as my friend Margret who is on the team as well. They played against each other separating the teams into blue and white jerseys. My roommate was able to be on the white team and Margret switched and was both team’s goalie. I went with a few of my friends to walk over to the forum and we all sat together and got food from the cantina. We all ended up walking back after and hanging out in one of the girl’s dorms but going was an extremely fun experience.

4:UNE girl’s hockey game:

Again I went to the UNE girl’s hockey game on Saturday, October 29th to support my roommate and friend Margret. I went with the same group of friends as before as we all agreed to go to as many of their games as we could go. The photo included is my friend Margret playing goalie, Ice hockey is definitely second in my choice of sports to watch, following baseball which is a shocking first to people because a lot of people think it is slow and boring to watch. Although UNE ended up losing in a 4-1 victory to Southern Maine Huskies I still found the event fun to go to altogether, and after we all hung out and celebrated Halloween.

5: Neon Fest:

I forgot to write about this one for a while but this event has to be my absolute favorite because it is where I made my closest friends at UNE. I went to the neon fest with a few girls in my hall whom I hadn’t known very well, and during our time there we did a few of the activities, did axe throwing, golf and used the giant see-saw that was set up right outside of the commons, we also probably had way too many of the energy drinks they put out on the tables for students to enjoy. After a little bit, I ran into Maia and she was with another girl Torrie, from there we decided to go back to maia’s dorm and play games, there I met Maia’s roommate Natalie and I can honestly say the best decision was walking up to her because I knew her from 3-5 classes at the time. To this day these are the closest friends I made at UNE and neon fest is what brought me so close to them. We also took photos which the one I took below was of my friend Torrie.

6: Mens hockey game UNE :

I went to the men’s hockey game on November 18th, with my friend Torrie and her friends Lexi. We all decided to walk over to the forum, although the walk there and back was extremely cold. We stayed for half the game and I would say the first half of the game was intense. There were a lot of penalties on the other team’s parts, and someone ended up getting shoved to the ground causing a fight. Overall the game was extremely entertaining to watch, the crowd was full of energy and spirit, president herbert was at the game, and there was also a group of shirtless men with the school’s logo on themselves running in the front of the crowd. It goes to show how much spirit this school has, and it is something that I enjoy going to and being able to watch.
